We provide FREE dental services for about 10000 orphans and vulnerable children from the many institutions around Phnom Penh in a clean, caring and modern environment.
We specialize in handicapped and traumatized children.
We believe that by providing quality dental treatment in a cocoon of care that we relieve some distress in these children's life, and return to them some dignity and self-respect.
Our staff are carefully chosen to provide role models for their development within Khmer society.
We also provide a platform for medical, nutritional and citizenship education.
We are now able to offer very advanced preventative treatments including fluoridated glass ionomer restorations.
The clinic is largely staffed by Khmer trainees chosen from the centers and it is open year round.
In Cambodia, there are big holidays in April and October.
There is always at least one dentist advising.
We see our patients efficiently in a modern, clean clinic.
We are NOT a mobile emergency/surgical facility.
We follow up every patient with six monthly checkups.
Why Cambodia?
Cambodian society is still weak after years of colonialism and war.
This can result in failed family structures and poor parenting, extreme poverty and malnutrition…
Children suffer greatly in this environment.
Part of their suffering is dental: infection, pain, fever, poor appetite.
Many institutions do look after these children: up to 1 million by UN measurement and many more abandoned handicapped and HIV +ve children.
At CWF, We feel lucky that we can directly help the children by relieving pain and infection that are so common in poor children and we relieve the Institutions of the financial burden of extensive dental treatment.
By delivering treatment and prevention in our environment, we can make Dentistry for up to 12000 children: effective, affordable, sustainable and dare I say it, pleasurable.
